Tough and beautiful

This piece of wood came from Ken Z. Thanks Ken!

I think this piece may have had silica or other minerals in the wood that quickly dull tool edges; I've never sharpened my tools so many times during one turning. But it's a beautiful piece of wood, and the extra effort was worth it. Enjoy!

This is gorgeous! I love everything about it from the varied coloring to the asymmetrical rim. Beautiful work, Darrell.

Darrell you know Hickory is much harder that oak is on the Janka scale. White Oak 1360 Hickory 1830. But what is one beautiful bowl, regardless of how hard the wood was. Your eye for seeing what can be is phenomenal. Keep up the good work
