A modern wall-hung unit
A couple friends of mine needed a wall-mounted media console for their new great room, and I was fortunate enough to be able to make it for them! They shared a general concept with me, and I worked up a 3d plan to show them.

The main box and divider are made from 3/4" Maple plywood. The drawer box is Butternut, and the drawer face is laminated Luan plywood that matches the wall this was to be mounted on. I used white enamel cabinet paint, which I enjoyed. It covers well, is durable, and finishes very smooth.
I put Black Walnut plugs in after painting so they would remain as accents, which I think makes it stand out from laminated big-box furniture. The other main quality improvement is the drawer, which is dovetailed (of course!). I decided to make the drawer handle cutout asymmetrical for the sake of interest and composition.
The wall mount is a French cleat, because you just can't beat the strength and simplicity. I've heard there have been instances of toddlers climbing on it, and it's still holding strong!
